That the outgoing Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar deserves profuse tributes is a fact. The country has witnessed unprecedented judicial activism under his watch. He showed unmatched vigour, resilience and sincerity of purpose while underscoring the need for building new water reservoirs in the country. No doubt, the outgoing CJP has done us proud through his strict adherence to constitutionalism and rule of law.
He has raised the bar, requiring his successors to perform even better. According to the Code of Conduct for judges of the Supreme Court and the high courts, "the prime duty of a judge as an individual is to present before the public an image of justice of the nation". There is no denying that Justice Saqib Nisar was strong without being rough and polite without being weak; he was above reproach and his conduct was guided by deep judicial ethics.
