The banking court on Saturday issued notices to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to submit its reply on January 23 after Anwar Majeed and his son Abdul Ghani Majeed, accused in money laundering case, moved the court for bail.
Omni Group chairman Anwar Majeed and his son Abdul Ghani Majeed filed the bail application in the banking court - headed by Judge Tariq Khoso on the plea saying that actions of FIA smacks of ill-intention and are based on political motives.
Anwar Majeed is presently under treatment in NICV and his son Abdul Ghani Majeed is in Adiala Jail Rawlapindi. Defence Counsel submitted before the court that FIA could not gather any proof against them, so they should be granted the bail. Duo is facing the trail on money-laundering charges for making billions of rupees bank transaction from fake bank accounts. Court directed FIA to submit the reply against the bail application of Anwar Majeed and his son Abdul Ghani Majeed in next hearing of the case.
