Prices of essential kitchen items remained stable during this week past as compared to preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that during the week under review, prices of most of the vegetables, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), sugar, formula milk NIDO, Everyday, packed spices, ghee/cooking oil, pulses, wheat flour and tea remained stable, while chicken price came down and fruit price witnessed an upward trend.
Potato prices remained stable at Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per kg, onion price was found stable at Rs 130 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 30-35 per kg, tomato price went up from Rs 150 per 5kg to Rs 180 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 40 per kg.
Local garlic prices witnessed no change and it was available in the range of Rs 300-400 per 5 kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 70-95 per kg. However, Chinese garlic price went further up from Rs 650 per 5kg to Rs 750 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 190 per kg against Rs 170 per kg; and ginger price further went up from Rs 700 per 5kg to Rs 750 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 200 per kg against Rs 180 per kg.
Wheat flour price remained stable at Rs 785 per 20-kg bag, egg price went further up from Rs 110 per dozen to Rs 115 per dozen in wholesales which in retail market were being sold at Rs 125 per dozen against Rs 120 per dozen, live chicken price further came down from Rs 4,500 per 40 kg to Rs 4,200 per 40 kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 125 per kg against Rs 130-135 per kg and chicken meat was being sold at Rs 200 per kg against Rs 230 per kg.
Prices of all the major pulses also witnessed no change as fine quality white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 170 per kg while its normal quality was available at Rs 135 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 170 per kg and normal quality grams at Rs 130 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 130-170 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentil (Masoor) was being sold at Rs 130 per kg.
Ghee/cooking oil prices also witnessed no change as normal quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 150 per kg/litre pack, while best quality ghee/cooking oil was being sold at Rs 1,030 per 5 kg/ litres tin. Likewise prices of sugar, formula milk Nido/Everyday, and packed spices also remained stable.
Capsicum price went up from Rs 375 per 5kg to Rs 390 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 90 per kg, yam (arvi) price remained stable at Rs 180 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 50 per kg; carrot, radish, and peas were being sold Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market were available at Rs 25-30 per kg.
Okra was being sold at Rs 500 per 5kg in wholesale market which in retail market was available at Rs 120 per kg, brinjal was being sold at Rs 150 per 5kg against Rs 120 per 5kg which in retail market was available at Rs 40 per kg and ridge gourd (tori) price went up from Rs 350 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 90 per kg. Prices of most of the vegetables including tinda, cauliflower, cabbage, beans, Karela and others remained stable during the week under review.
Fruit prices witnessed an upward trend as white apple was available at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 75 per kg, Ambri apple at Rs 80 per kg, Pakistani Kala Kolo apple at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 130 per kg, and Iranian Kala Kolo apple at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 150 per kg.
Good quality banana was being sold at Rs 80 per dozen against Rs 75 per dozen and normal quality banana was available in the range of Rs 45-55 per dozen. Guava prices remained stable as good quality guava was available at Rs 90 per kg and normal quality guava was being sold at Rs 70 per kg.
Best quality kinnow was being sold at Rs 180 per dozen, Khanpuri Shakri Malta at Rs 140 per dozen and normal kinnow was available in the range of Rs 70-100 per dozen. Pomegranate was being sold at Rs 175 per kg and sapodilla (chiko) was available at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 120 per kg while papaya was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 90 per kg.
