The absence of ministers and movers of adjournment motions and resolutions in the Punjab Assembly prompted the Deputy Speaker to direct the government to "make sure it doesn't happen again". It was witnessed on the private members day in Punjab Assembly that neither the movers of the questions were interested in their answers nor the ministers were interested in giving the answers.
The Speaker pended four resolutions out of five on the agenda while five resolutions from the agenda of the January 15, 2019, were pended by the Speaker. The adjournments motions and resolutions which were mostly related to higher education, school education and heath were pended by the speakers because none of the ministers of these departments was present in the House. The Speaker also directed that the ministers should be present in the House at 11am on Wednesday.
The Speaker also pended questions relating to the departments of industry, trade and investment, environment protection and labour and human resource because the movers and the ministers were not present in the House. The only resolution which was presented in the House was of treasury benches by MPA Uzma Kardar relating to use of metro bus track for ambulance in case of emergency was rejected in the House.
Interestingly, opposition members Sami Ullah Khan, Azma Bukhari and Syed Hassan Murtaza supported the resolution while PTI ministers Raja Basharat, Chaudhry Zaheer Uddin and Mian Aslam Iqbal opposed the resolution saying that it was not viable.
While responding to the point of order of Waris Kalu regarding the Speaker's directions of taking action against Benazir Bhutto Hospital Dr Tariq Niazi for recording his call, Law Minister Raja Basharat said that as per the directions of Speaker Dr Tariq Niazi will be suspended.
