The opposition parties in National Assembly on Thursday decided to move a privilege motion against Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Naeem-ul-Haq for his tweet against Leader of Opposition Shahbaz Sharif. Speaking to media persons after a meeting of the opposition members in the Parliament House, Pakistan Peoples Party's lawmaker Khursheed said that Haq breached privilege of the Speaker through his tweet.
Haq on Wednesday last warned Sharif through a tweet against targeting prime minister Imran Khan with "personal attacks," asking if the PML-N leader wanted to "spend more time in jail sulking." Khursheed said that Naeem-ul-Haq has threatened the opposition, the Speaker and the Parliament through his tweet, adding that the special assistant to the prime minister is not a member of the Parliament.
Shah also expressed his ignorance about position of Naeem-ul-Haq in the PTI government. Haq is considered to be a close confidante of Prime Minister Imran Khan and has been with the prime minister for the last many years. About health condition of incarcerated PML-N leader and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he urged the government to take all possible measures to ensure the best possible treatment to the ex-premier.
Earlier, PML-N President and Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of its lawmakers in his chamber to discuss deteriorating health of his brother Nawaz Sharif and the mini-budget presented by the government on Wednesday last. Later talking to the media, he lamented the treatment being meted out to Nawaz Sharif in jail who has been a thrice elected prime minister of the country.
Sharif urged the government to provide all needed medical facilities to Nawaz Sharif in the Kot Lakhpat Jail, adding that the ex-premier should be admitted to a hospital for detailed medical check-up. Expressing concern about health of Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz said that news about Nawaz's health "is not satisfactory." Nawaz Sharif's personal physician, Dr Adnan said on Wednesday last that the former premier's health is "at risk" if he is not hospitalised for treatment.
Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz took to Twitter to criticise the government, saying that "authorities sat on the reports compiled by the government constituted boards and the recommendation that he needs to hospitalised was conveniently concealed and overlooked."
