The Karachi Port handled 160,094 tonnes of cargo comprising 103,926 tonnes of import cargo and 56,168 tonnes of export cargo including 9,586 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 103,926 tonnes comprised of 75,026 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,351 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,860 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 6,500 tonnes of rock phosphate and 19,189 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 56,168 tonnes comprised of 23,927 tonnes of containerised cargo; 500 tonnes of bulk cargo; 12,030 tonnes of clinker; 2,811 tonnes of rice and 16,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 9,586 containers comprising of 5,515 containers import and 4,071 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,418 of 20's and 2,024 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 24 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 610 of 20's and 283 of 40's loaded containers while 597 of 20's and 1,149 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Piraeus, Mid Osprey, Lila, Glovis Prime, BBC Campana and JY Guardianship carrying containers, oil tanker, clinker, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. APL England, Navios Unite, Athenian, Ocean Venus, MP MR Tanker-1, Lake Sturgeon, Glovis Prime and Dong A Glaucos carrying containers, oil tankers and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 142,355 tonnes includes 27,884 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,176 tonnes of palm oil; 37,700 tonnes of LNG; 105 tonnes of mogas; 11,818 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 27,800 tonnes of coal; 14,000 tonnes of chemical; 2,297 tonnes of palm kernel and 7,525 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 59,189 tonnes includes 1,923 tonnes of rice and 57,266 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,939 containers comprising of 925 containers import and 3,014 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were four ships namely CV Maersk Lima, MV Conti Darwin, CV ER Tokyo and MT UACC Muharraq carrying containers and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely MV Navios Azurite carrying chemical is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, palm kernel, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as sixteen vessels viz. CV Teno, MV Reem-3, MV Gao Yu-2, MV Pedhoulas Trader, MV Globe Trotter, MV Li Etta, MV Pacific Activity, MV Baltic Light, MV Eliznabeth, MV Ginga Leopard, MV Gaschem Nordsea, MT Marangas Apollonia, MT Gao Cheng-3, MT NCC Noor, MT Bum Shun and MT Horizon respectively carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean, coal, chemical, mogas, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CV Teno, CV Maersk Bentonville, MV Elizabeth, MV Gaschem Nordsea, MT Marangas Apollonia and MT NCC Noor carrying containers, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday
There was one ship namely CV Maersk Bentonville carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely CV Navios Unit carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
