The interior ministry on Friday reportedly removed the name of Leader of Opposition in Punjab assembly Hamza Shehbaz from blacklist while following the orders of Lahore High Court (LHC). Hamza had filed a petition in the court while making interior ministry, passport & immigration authorities and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) respondents in the case.
The petition pleaded the court to order the interior ministry for removal of his name from the no-fly list as "freedom of movement, mobility rights, or the right to travel is one of the basic human rights, encompassing the right of individuals to travel from one place to another."
The petition further stated that the applicant came to know that his name was put on the blacklist when he was prevented from boarding a flight in November last while he was being investigated by NAB over 'possession of assets beyond known sources of income' and Ramzan Sugar Mills cases.
The petition said that Hamza Shehbaz has been appearing before the investigators and coordinating with the NAB officials in the cases. On January 10, the LHC heard the plea and sought a reply from interior ministry while allowing Hamza to travel abroad for 10 days.
