Mixed trend in prices of important kitchen items, including vegetable, chicken meat, pulses, eggs, sugar and others was witnessed in the preceding week, said in a survey carried out by Business Recorder here on Sunday. The survey noticed the price of chicken meat has increased at Rs 126 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 116 per a few days back. A dozen of farm eggs are being sold at Rs 110 and Rs 120. Cow meat is being sold at Rs 400 per kilogram in retail market. Mutton beef is being sold at Rs750 per kilogram.
A considerable hike in prices of vegetable was noticed in retail market. Price of tomatoes has gone up at Rs 50 kilogram, which was selling at Rs 30 per kilogram in the last week, whereas onion is being sold at Rs 40 per kilogram. One-kilogram ginger is being sold at Rs 240 per kilogram, showing an increase of Rs 40 per kilogram in retail market. Chinese garlic is available at Rs 100-120 per kilogram, while locally produced garlic priced at Rs60-80 per kilogram. Lemon is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram. Green chili priced at Rs80 per kilogram.
The survey further noticed that price of arvi has increased at Rs70 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 40 per kilogram in the previous week. Likewise, the rate of peas has gone up at Rs60 per kilogram against the price of Rs 40 per kilogram in the last week. Turnip is being sold at Rs 30 per kilogram. However, potatoes are being sold at reasonable rate in retail market as available at Rs 20 and Rs 30 per kilogram. Similarly, the cauliflower is being sold at Rs 25 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 40 per kilogram in the last week, while cabbage priced at Rs 40 per kilogram in retail market.
Apple gourd is being sold at Rs 50 per kilogram, while others available within range of Rs 35-40 per kilogram in local market. Bringle is being sold at Rs 30 per kilogram. Reddish is available at Rs 40 per kilogram. Capsicum is being sold at Rs 100 per kilogram in retail market. According the survey, the prices of pulses have remained unchanged in retail market as no significant increase or decrease witnessed in the previous week. Good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs 150 per kilogram. Toota rice white coloured is available at Rs80 per kg while red coloured at Rs70 per kilogram.
Likewise, the dal mash priced at Rs 130 per kilogram, dal channa at Rs 120 per kilogram, Dal masoor at Rs90 per kilogram., white lobiya is being sold at Rs 110 per kilogram in retail market. The survey further said that the locally produced red bean is being sold at Rs 180 per kilogram, while Tajikistan red bean priced at Rs 130 per kilogram in retail market. Price of white big channa has declined at Rs 130 per kilogram from Rs 150 per kilogram.
It added that the moonge is being sold at Rs 110 per kilogram. Dal chilka (green) is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram, while dal chilka (black) available at Rs 130 per kilogram. Dhoti dal is being sold at Rs 110 per kilogram in the local market. Gram flour (baisen) is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram. The survey noticed that price of sugar has decreased at Rs 58 per kilogram, while some shopkeers are still selling sugar at Rs60 per kilogram in retail market.
According the survey, the prices of cooking/ghee of all brands and qualities were remained high-side in retail market, as available within range of Rs 160, Rs 180 and Rs 200 per kg/litre. The survey further added that Fruits as a staple food, which are available at high rates in provincial capital Peshawar. Apples are being sold at Rs 120 and Rs 150 per kilogram. Pomegranate is being sold at Rs 100 per kilogram, orange at Rs80 per dozen, kinnow at Rs60 per kilogram. Guava is being sold at Rs 100 per kilogram in local market.
