The Karachi Port handled 135,366 tonnes of cargo comprising 87,403 tonnes of import cargo and 47,963 tonnes of export cargo including 9,541 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 87,403 tonnes comprised of 62,699 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,359 tonnes of bulk cargo and 23,345 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 47,963 tonnes comprised of 47,963 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 9,541 containers comprising of 4,570 containers import and 4,971 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,438 of 20's and 1,543 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 23 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 965 of 20's and 931 of 40's loaded containers while 422 of 20's and 861 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely KMTC Mumbai, X-Press Annapurna, MT Lahore, Gala and Jawad carrying containers, oil tanker, project cargo and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. KMTC Mumbai, OOCL California, ATB Brownsville, Petrochem Trader, Cora, Gala and Zhong Shan Men carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 154,567 tonnes comprising 134,636 tonnes of import cargo and 19,931 tonnes of export cargo including 4,108 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 134,636 tonnes includes 9,000 tonnes of palm oil; 1,000 tonnes of LPG; 64,015 tonnes of coal; 2,500 tonnes of chemical and 58,121 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 19,931 tonnes includes 19,931 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,108 containers comprising of 3,059 containers import and 1,049 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There was one ship namely MV Ocean rose carrying coal sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning.
A total number of eleven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean seeds, bitumen, LPG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as eleven vessels viz. CV MOL Generosity, MV Gao Yu, MV Gao Yu-2, MV Port Macau, MV Pacific Activity, MV Valovine, MV Ikan Pulass, MV Komi, MT NCC Maha, MT Hori Trader and MT Navigate Voilte respectively carrying containers, bitumen, coal and palm oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. CV MOL Generosity and MV Komi carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Wednesday There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Almaviva and CV Maersk Brooklyn carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
