With reference to Business Recorder's Research Report on PIDE published on 4 February 2019, it is stated that it is a one-sided report which has not taken the trouble of seeking the view of the Vice Chancellor, who is the main target of the report. The VC, PIDE University is a renowned economist of Pakistan who was educated at MIT and Stanford universities and had taught at U Penn and Columbia for a long time.
Incidentally, Dr. Asad Zaman is currently visiting Istanbul where he has been invited to deliver a lecture on "Economics for the 21st Century" at Istanbul Sabahattiin Zaim University on 7th Feb and a lecture on "Launching a Revolution in the Teaching of Economics" at the Marmara University on Friday 8th Feb. His trenchant critique of conventional economics has attracted worldwide attention. One of his articles which provides a deep critique and presents an Islamic Alternative was invited by the Editor Clifford Cobb, and is due to appear in the next issue of well-respected American Journal of Economics and Sociology with the title "Islam's Gift: An Economy of Spiritual Development".
Such a critical work may not easily gain acceptance from those who are deeply touchedand allied with the conventional economics. The one-sided story of 4 February has given undue credence to their point of view without giving space to the views of Dr. Zaman. On the report published in BR, Dr. Zamanplans to write a suitable response after his return, in a week or so.
