Terming bowling lineup of the Pakistan cricket team as their weapon in the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur has said that his sixth sense says fast bowler Mohammad Amir will give a brilliant performance in the mega event as he enjoys bowling in difficult situation.
Talking to media in Lahore on Friday, Arthur said that even international fast bowlers don't want to bowl under pressure but Amir himself asks for bowing in such conditions.
About the upcoming World Cup in May, head coach said that skipper Sarfraz Ahmed had performed well as a batsman for the team and that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) may well bring new talent to the fore.
Commenting on PCB's decision to retain Sarfraz Ahmed as skipper, Arthur said that he is completely on board with the move and that all "rumours surrounding the captaincy have now been thrown in the bin."
He further said that Sarfraz Ahmed is a match winning batsman and wicketkeeper. "There is nothing to worry about the skipper's performance as he can bat at any number in any situation," he said, adding: "Sarfraz dropped only one catch and missed only one stumping in last four and half months. Coaching staff is working with him to get his batting form back."
Arthur said his strict behaviour with players is for their own improvement, and affirmed that he won't tolerate dressing room's conversations to be discussed on media.
Regarding Team Pakistan performance in the series at South Africa, Mickey said, although the green shirts were unable to yield positive results against the South African cricket team in the recent One-Day International and T20 series, they had tried hard. "It is disappointing that Pakistan could not win the One-Day International (ODI) series, but the team's spirit against the South African team is commendable," he said, adding: "In the T20 series, the players did fight but it is unfortunate that they lost the series." Arthur also showed willingness to coach the Pakistan team even after the upcoming World Cup.
