The management of M/s Mitsubishi Corporation, establishing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project, is expected to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan later this month to apprise him about the project. Mitsubishi Corporation is setting up a 750 Million Cubic Feet (MMCFD) per day of LNG import and re-gasification.
According to the company''s SVP/ Chief Executive in Pakistan Kimihide Ando, Mitsubishi Corporation has been diligently pursuing to develop the integrated LNG project at Port Qasim, Karachi with primary objective to supply reliable and economically competitive RLNG to Pakistan.
In a letter to the prime minister, he stated that the company is confident that the project "will contribute to Pakistan''s energy security for decades to come and to this effect, Jun Nishizawa, Senior Vice President, Division COO, Energy Resources Division, who is heading the initiative, would express in person the degree of commitment and determination Mitsubishi Corporation holds in bringing the project to fruition." The company maintained that prime minister''s attention can provide a push to the project.
"I sincerely look forward to add the energy sector to our areas of collaboration furthermore strengthen the ties between the two nations. Your blessing on our initiative can support our forward surge in development," said Kimihide Ando in his letter. Presently, Pakistan has two LNG terminals with a combined re-gasification capacity of 1.2 Billion Cubic Feet per day.
