Family members and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders met ousted former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at Kot Lakhpat Jail on Thursday and complained that the PML-N supremo is not being extended proper medical cover. Among those who met Nawaz were Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Ayaz Sadiq, Pervaiz Rashid, Amir Muqam and others. While speaking to reporters outside the prison, Pervaiz Rashid said they were there to express faith in Nawaz Sharif, adding the former Prime Minister was not keeping in good health. He was critical of the way Prime Minister Imran Khan was running the country.
Talking to the PML-N leaders, Nawaz said that agreements were made with Saudi Arabia during the PML-N's tenure and that the Saudi Crown Prince had signed aid package with him. "Motorways and health cards were all PML-N's plans and the current government is re-launching our projects and is trying to take credit for it," sources said while quoting Nawaz having said.
Nawaz claimed, "The Saudi Crown Prince finalised aid package with me. It takes time to settle international matters." He said, "If the PML-N were in power, people would be travelling in Orange Train. We left the Lahore-Multan Motorway almost complete for them and they could not even finish that. They could not even complete the Lahore-Multan interchange." Nawaz said "there was a web of highways laid down in our tenure in Balochistan. They can take the credit for our plans but they should open them for the public."
About the cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Shahbaz Sharif, the former PM said, they (NAB) are being humiliated for the cases. He added, "NAB made cases against development projects in Punjab but did nothing against the people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Shehbaz made numerous power plans, while KP could not even make one." About his health, Nawaz said the government had formulated four medical boards to check his health and all of them confirmed about his heart condition.
When asked whether he should go home or to a hospital from prison, Nawaz said, "Who wants to go to a hospital? When I saw the weather in the morning, I wanted to go to Malam Jabba."
