National Assembly Standing Committee on Science and Technology has unanimously elected MNA Sajid Mehdi as its chairman. A meeting of the committee was held here at the Parliament House on Thursday. The special secretary National Assembly Secretariat welcomed the members and briefed them about the procedure for election of the chairman. Member of National Assembly (MNA) Noor Alam Khan proposed the name of Sajid Mehdi as chairman of the committee while MNA Khursheed Ahmad Junejo seconded his candidature.
Accordingly, Sajid Mehdi was unanimously elected as chairman of the Standing Committee on Science and Technology.
The special secretary National Assembly Secretariat congratulated the newly-elected chairman on behalf of the speaker and assured him full support from the secretariat for effective and efficient functioning of the committee.
The chairman expressed his gratitude to the members for posing confidence in him and assured them to run the business of the committee with consensus. The members while appreciating the views of the chairman assured him their fullest support in the process of legislation.
The meeting was attended by MNAs including Noor Alam Khan, Chaudhry Shoukat Ali Bhatti, Farrukh Habib, Rahat Aman Ullah Bhatti, Sobia Kamal Khan, Samina Matloob, Khursheed Ahmad Junejo, Sikandar Ali Rahouphoto and Naveed Aamir Jeeva, besides the senior officers of the National Assembly Secretariat.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) met at the Parliament House for election of its chairman; however, the election of the chairman was postponed till the next meeting.
