Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua Saturday rubbished the Indian designs to "isolate" Pakistan in the wake of Pulwama attack on the basis of baseless allegations. The foreign secretary briefed Islamabad-based ambassadors of a number of countries including the non-permanent members of the UN Security Council on the Indian propaganda based on the allegations following the Pulwama attack in occupied Kashmir.
"It is preposterous to think that Pakistan can be "isolated," Janjua was quoted by Spokesperson Foreign Office Dr Mohammad Faisal to have told the resident ambassadors in Islamabad. She said that Indian claims regarding involvement of Pakistan in the Pulwama attack are contradictory, and unverified social media contents have no grounds. He said that the foreign secretary also raised the issue of gross human rights violations being perpetrated by the Indian occupation forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, adding that years of unabated human rights violations in IoK have alienated the Kashmiri people.
Briefing ambassadors from non-permanent members of the UN Security Council in a separate session, the foreign secretary pointed towards known tactics of India to divert global attention from gross human rights violations in the IoK. Janjua shared Pakistan's perspective with ambassadors on unfounded allegations by India after the attack and emphasised continued importance of implementing the UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.
The foreign secretary also briefed ambassadors from the European Union in a separate session in which she underscored Pakistan's position on the Pulwama attack. "She categorically rejected Indian government's remarks of Pakistan's involvement in the attack," Dr Faisal said. Earlier, on Friday the foreign secretary briefed the ambassadors of P5 [permanent five members of the UN Security Council] countries about the Indian allegations against Pakistan in the wake of the Pulwama attack.
Meanwhile, Pakistan strongly condemned the continuing attacks on Kashmiri people in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack in occupied Kashmir. In a series of tweets, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that Kashmiri students are also being systemically targeted in India as the authorities stay complicit and inactive. "India must not use the Pulwama attack as a carte blanche to intensify its atrocities against innocent Kashmiris in IOK," he stated.
