LONDON: British wholesale gas prices were mixed on Friday morning in slow trade, with the day-ahead up on increased consumption and the weekend and month-ahead contracts down on oversupply.

* The day-ahead gas price was 0.95 pence higher at 62.10 pence per therm at 0913 GMT

* "Cold weather with temperatures below seasonal normal came to the UK yesterday," said Refinitiv gas analyst Marina Tsygankova

* "The latest (forecast) confirms an extended cold spell lasting through February with temperatures at the end of month colder than previously assumed," she said

* Other contracts dipped due to oversupply

* Gas for weekend delivery is down 0.50 pence at 61.50 p/therm and the February contract is down 0.50 pence at 61.50 p/therm

* Flows are forecast at around 361 million cubic metres (mcm) per day and demand at 350 mcm, National Grid data shows

* Withdrawals from UK storage sites have risen to 11 mcm, from 4 mcm yesterday

* UK Continental Shelf production, Norwegian flows and supply through the BBL pipeline are all strong

* In the Dutch gas market, the day-ahead price dipped by 0.03 euro to 22.65 euros per megawatt hour

* The benchmark Dec-19 EU carbon contract inched up by 0.04 euro to 23.68 euros a tonne
