Sasti Roti Scheme: Minister asked to present audit report of Rs 13.374 billion subsidy
Speaker Punjab Assembly on Wednesday directed the Food minister to present the audit report of subsidy of Rs 13.374 billion on wheat in Sasti Roti Scheme introduced by the PML-N government in the next session of Assembly. The Speaker gave these directions on a question of Momina Waheed on subsidy given under the head of Sasti Roti Scheme by the PML-N government.
"Despite my directions, the government has not released the stock of wheat," he said. He directed the Food department to immediately release the wheat equally in the province.
Speaking on the floor of the House, Food Minister Sami Ullah Chaudhry said the government had 7.2 million ton of wheat in stock but now they have only 3.1 million ton of wheat.
He assured the House that wheat stock will be released as per directions of the Speaker.
Pervez Elahi said that the Punjab Food Authority is doing a great job but a lot more is yet to be done.
He was responding to the question of PML-N MPA Hina Butt on sale of adulterated milk in Punjab.
Earlier, the House passed The Punjab Prevention of Conflict of Interest Bill 2018 with majority.
PPP parliamentary leader Syed Hassan Murtaza opposed the bill saying that the government has not taken the member of PPP in the committee.
The government passed the amendment in The Punjab Skill Development Bill 2018 presented by PML-N MPA Azma Bukhari regarding induction of two members of the Punjab Assembly - one from the opposition nominated by opposition leader and one from the treasury benches nominated by government in the board of the proposed authority. The government also introduced The Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center Bill 2019 and The Provincial Assembly of the Punjab Secretariat Employees Bill 2019. The session of the house was adjourned till 11:30 am after the treasury benches failed to meet the quorum pointed out by PML-N MPA Zaib un Nisa.
