Night flights operation at Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA) Peshawar formally resumed, while two flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for Al-Ain and Sharjah (UAE) departed from the Peshawar Airport.
According to details, PIA flight PK-255, carrying 143 passengers formally departed for Al-Ain United Arab Emirates (UAE), following the resumption of night flights operation at BKIA on Friday.
It is pertinent to mention here that the night flight operation was suspended after unknown miscreants opened fire at a landing flight at Bacha Khan International Airport in the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on September 27, 2014.
Also, international flights at night had suspended at BKIA due to recent incidents of firing at the airport from October 9, 2014.
COO and Airport Manager of Bacha Khan International Airport, Peshawar, Obaidur Rehman said that night landing restrictions would soon be lifted and Peshawar would get back the facility soon.
The launch of Peshawar-Sharjah and Peshawar-Al-Ain flights were longstanding demands of the people of KP which the PIA new management has met. The manager said that the BKIA, Peshawar project is in the final stage and it would be opened for passengers at the end of March.
Earlier, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan formally opened the night flights operation, during a ceremony held at early morning on Friday.
He said that the step would also give boost to trade and economic activities. He thanked the PIA for re-launching of flights from Peshawar Airport. The first PIA flight carrying 159 passengers took off on Thursday.
