The Karachi Port handled 156,958 tonnes of cargo comprising 84,836 tonnes of import cargo and 72,122 tonnes of export cargo including 10,786 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 84,836 tonnes comprised of 63,043 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,311 tonnes of bulk cargo and 19,482 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 72,122 tonnes comprised of 52,027 tonnes of containerised cargo; 600 tonnes of bulk cargo; 12,400 tonnes of clinker; 1,280 tonnes of rice and 5,815 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 10,786 containers comprising of 4,320 containers import and 6,466 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,480 of 20's and 1,357 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 63 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,390 of 20's and 765 of 40's loaded containers while 486 of 20's and 1,530 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely APL Le Havre, Beach Galaxy and Liberty Pride carrying containers, oil tanker and vehicles respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. ER Felixstowe, Xin Fei Zhou, Oriental Lotus, BW Kallang, Liberty Pride and Da An carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicles and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 163,700 tonnes comprising 133,224 tonnes of import cargo and 30,476 tonnes of export cargo including 3,343 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 133,224 tonnes includes 36,550 tonnes of LNG; 17,200 tonnes of palm oil; 34,495 tonnes of coal; 8,977 tonnes of chemical; 2,961 tonnes of palm kernel and 33,041 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,476 tonnes includes 30,476 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,343 containers comprising of 1,739 containers import and 1,604 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There were two ships namely MV El Matador and MV Al Bahiya carrying coal and chemical sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely CV Maersk Bentonville, CV GSL Tianjin and MV SC Dalian carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, palm kernel, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as fourteen vessels viz. MV Xiamen Ze Ping, MV Hong Yuan, MV Bottiglieri Franco, MV Tegea, MV Port Macau, MV Valvovine, MV Ikan Pulass, MV Malin-V, MT Gas Amazon, MT BW Tiger, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Spica, MT Ginga Jaguar and MT Gao Cheng-2 respectively carrying general cargo, soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Butterfly, MV Xiamen Ze Ping and MV Fuji Galaxy carrying containers, general cargo and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday. There was one ship namely CV CMA CGM Butterfly carrying containers due to arrive on Friday. There are three ships namely CV Safmarine Nyassa, CV Diyala and MV Fuji Galaxy carrying containers and chemical due to arrive on Saturday.
