The Lahore administration has drawn a comprehensive plan for hosting the Pakistan Super League matches at the Qaddafi Stadium in the provincial capital on March 9, 10 and 11. A meeting was held here on Saturday to discuss the arrangements of the mega event, which was chaired by District Commissioner Saleha Saeed. The meeting was also attended by the assistant commissioners and senior officials from police, Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), Lahore Transport Company (LTC), LESCO, WASA, Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), Rescue 1122, Sui Northern Gas Limited, health department and traffic department.
The meeting agreed on a plan for hosting the matches while keeping in mind the security aspect. It decided to set up a temporary car parking near the stadium from where the spectators will be shifted to the venue on a shuttle bus service. The Lahore Parking Company is given the task of setting up the temporary parking facility; no vehicles will be permitted to the stadium. The meeting considered open spaces in Punjab University as an option for the temporary car parking.
It was also decided to establish a temporary 20-bed hospital in the vicinity of the Qaddafi Stadium to meet any emergency while a make-shift six-bed hospital will be set up in the Peril Continental Hotel.
On the occasion, the DC said that the managements of Jinnah, Services and General hospitals have also been directed to make special arrangement during the match days. She also directed the management of the Rescue 1122 to draw a comprehensive plan as soon as possible.
Under the plan, the Lahore administration also intends to promote 'Clean and Green' campaign during the matches. Moreover, for the prevention of dengue virus, a week before the commencement of the matches, the Qaddafi Stadium will be sprayed. The anti-dengue spray will also be carried out on the eve of the matches.
During the mega event, 300 sanitation workers of LWMC will be deployed for cleanliness of the stadium and its surrounding areas. To drain out rainwater after a possibility of rain, the DC directed the WASA management to ensure availability of staff and machinery during the dates of the matches. Moreover, a week before the match begin, all drains will be cleaned.
Also, the LESCO has been directed to complete the arrangements for uninterrupted power supply and generators in the stadium while the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) will play its role to beautify the surrounding of the stadium. The DC Lahore also directed the TEPA to carry out match work on roads leading to the stadium.
