The Investment Climate Reform Unit (ICRU), Planning and Development Board, Government of Punjab, in collaboration with Financing Sustainable Development (FSD), Support to Local Governance Programme (LoGo), and Deutsche Gesellschaft Fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) have joined hands to promote investment and ease of doing business in Punjab.
Officials told Business Recorder here on Monday that those institutions held a consultative session for the "Establishment of a Web Portal for Ease of Doing Business and Private Sector Engagement for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Punjab" at the P&D Board, Punjab office.
The consultative session was part of ICRU's initiative of reaching out to stakeholders from the public and private sectors to identify specific operational concerns for the envisaged mechanism of designing one easy-to-use portal that would let businesses in the Punjab optimize and grow.
In light of this, the consultative session was the first step in the process of evaluating the potential feasibility that may be utilized by the private sector for interfacing with concerned departments and authorities of the Government of the Punjab for resolution of general queries pertaining to the business environment put forward by the private sector through the web portal.
The portal will also provide the latest statistics, analytical materials, information on government support measures, the province's industrial and innovation infrastructure and other data.
Furthermore, it is envisaged to act as a facilitation of businesses through the identification and streamlining of hurdles and bottlenecks and by improving access to information pertaining to commercial activity for businesses.
It is pertinent to mention that ICRU had been mandated to streamline private sector feedback, throughout the province, to the government pertaining to various policies and regulations.
