In a first, automobile manufacturer Nissan has unveiled a new prototype for its van, which also incorporates a mini all-electric carpentry shop.

Automaker Nissan recently unveiled its new NV300 Concept-van, designed for a ‘creative woodwork professional’ and includes an electric mobile carpentry workshop in its cargo area.

The workshop runs on a 700Wh portable, weatherproof Nissan Energy ROAM pack that runs on second-hand Nissan LEAF batteries – recovered from Nissan’s electric vehicles that have come to an end of their life – and provides a convenient, emission free and silent power while on the go.

With this energy, one can easily power table saws, computers, and other gear in the field without having to use any kind of generator. What’s more interesting is that the car is fitted with solar panel on the top, so some of the power is also recovered while the driver drives to his next work site.

Inside the van, the doors have been fitted to hold various tools. There is also a built-in touchscreen computer in the load area, LED lighting in the ceiling and a combination of space-saving storage and swivel chairs that makes it easy to move around, described CNET Roadshow.

The concept van, as per Nissan, highlights the versatility of Nissan commercial vehicles for bespoke conversions of all kinds. The company claims that the concept van is a ‘spacious and incredibly practical light’ commercial vehicle and is available in different lengths and heights.

Francesco Giacalone, LCV Planning and Marketing Director, Nissan Europe said, “With the NV300 Concept-van, Nissan is really thinking about the future of the commercial vehicle as an authentic partner for business customers.”
