The Karachi Port handled 114,074 tonnes of cargo comprising 74,749 tonnes of import cargo and 39,325 tonnes of export cargo including 6,366 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 74,749 tonnes comprised of 46,163 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,802 tonnes of bulk cargo and 23,784 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 39,325 tonnes comprised of 32,800 tonnes of containerised cargo; 50 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,175 tonnes of rice and 1,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,366 containers comprising of 3,784 containers import and 2,582 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 721 of 20's and 1,320 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 211 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 887 of 20's and 520 of 40's loaded containers while 61 of 20's and 297 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were five ships namely Beijing Bridge, Diyala, Hyundai Busan, Al Safa and Palawan Star carrying containers, oil tanker and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Ever Union, CMA CGM Racine, Botany Bay, Wieland, MT Shalamar and Eastern Azalea carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 170,358 tonnes comprising 110,443 tonnes of import cargo and 59,915 tonnes of export cargo including 3,126 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 110,443 tonnes includes 31,900 tonnes of LNG; 1,500 tonnes of diesel oil; 1,700 tonnes of palm oil; 2,575 tonnes of palm kernel; 6,373 tonnes of soyabean; 36,000 tonnes of coal; 2,000 tonnes of chemical and 13,395 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 59,915 tonnes includes 13,916 tonnes of cement and 45,999 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,126 containers comprising of 705 containers import and 2,421 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely CV MSC Valencia carrying containers sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while four more ships namely CV MSC Maeva, MV Fuji Galaxy, MT Al-Thumama and MT BW Tiger carrying containers, chemical, LNG and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, palm kernel, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen vessels viz. CV MSC Asya, MV BBC Africa, MV Hong Yuan, MV Orange Harmony, MV Tegea, MV Port Macau, MV Valvovine, MV Ikan Pulass, MV Equinox Agnadoussa, MV Oslo Venture, MV New Destiny, MV Windsor Adventure, MT GL Cosmos, MT Torm Sovereign and MT Gao Cheng-2 respectively carrying containers, project cargo, soyabean, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV MSC Asya, CV Maersk Pittsburgh, MV New Destiny and MV Windsor Adventure carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely CV Maersk Pittsburgh carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely CV Conti Darwin carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
