Foreign Office on Sunday rejected the Indian stance of Kashmir being "an integral part of India and is a matter strictly internal to India," saying Kashmir is a core dispute between the two countries and the OIC 57-member states have also called for resolution of the in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
In a series of tweets on Sunday, Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal reacted to Indian Ministry of External Affairs' statement in which it rejected the OIC's call for resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, and stated that Jammu & Kashmir is "core" issue between India and Pakistan. "OIC 57 member states uphold Kashmiris' legitimate right to self-determination...57 Member states unanimously adopt resolution on Jammu & Kashmir dispute", Dr Faisal said while referring to the resolution unanimously adopted by the OIC's Council of Foreign Ministers.
The OIC's Council of Foreign Ministers which held in UAE was addressed by Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj as 'guest of honour' and Pakistan did not attend the session in protest against inviting Swaraj to the forum without consultations.
"The OIC 57 member states condemned Indian terrorism in Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir and severely indicted India on human rights violations", Dr Faisal stated, adding that the OIC member states stated that Jammu & Kashmir is "core" issue between India and Pakistan. "OIC upholds Kashmiris' legitimate right to self determination... Lesson from 46th CFM [council of foreign ministers]: OCI is Pakistan's home", he further tweeted.
The Indian External Affairs Ministry, while reacting to the resolution on Kashmir adopted by the OIC council of foreign ministers, stated: "As regards the resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, our stand is consistent and well known. We reaffirm that Jammu & Kashmir is an integral part of India and is a matter strictly internal to India".
