Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Waqas Nazir directed the Dolphin Squad on Sunday to intensify its ongoing operation against criminals. The DIG issued these instructions while reviewing the weekly performance of the Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit (PRU). According to the weekly performance report, the Dolphin Squad and the PRU recovered narcotics including one kilogram of hashish and 31 bottles of liquor from criminals.
During patrolling, 2599 vehicles, over 147,000 motorbikes and more than 90,000 persons were thoroughly checked. Over 20 vehicles and 2138 motorbikes were also impounded due to incomplete documents whereas disciplinary action was taken against responsible persons.
The report says that the Dolphin and PRU officials also promptly responded to all 1557 calls received on helpline 15. Also, around 47 bikes, 12 mobile phones and thousands of rupees were recovered from the criminals during action. More than 25 persons were also arrested for doing one wheeling, 57 arrested for Kite Flying and another two persons also held for violating Fire Arms Acts.
