The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet which is scheduled to meet today (Tuesday) will approve allocation of 9 mmcfd gas from Fazl X-1 gas field to Sui Southern Gas Pipeline Limited (SSGCL). Fazl X-1 gas field is located in Hala Block in Matiari district, Sindh. The field is being operated by Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL's share is 65 per cent) in a Joint Venture (JV) with the Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL's share is 35 per cent).
PPL has requested to allocate gas from Fazl X-1 discovery to the government nominated buyer SSGCL. The Petroleum Division, in accordance with Pakistan Petroleum (Exploration & Production) Rules, 2001 has approved Declaration of Commercially (DoC), Field Development Plan (FDP) and granted Development and Production Lease (D&PL) over Fazl X-1 discovery to Hala JV for a period of 10 years effective from March 14, 2018.
Petroleum Division has proposed that up to 9 mmcfd gas from Fazl X-1 may be allocated to SSGCL. The price of gas will be as per applicable Petroleum Policy. The Ministry of Finance has supported the proposal subject to the fulfillment of codal formalities and compliance with approved policy; no adverse implication on the part of GoP is envisaged.
