The opposition walked out in Punjab Assembly on Tuesday against the use of derogatory language by Information Minister Fayaz-ul-Hasan Chohan against Hindus. They also demanded the resignation of the minister.
Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly Dost Muhammad Mazari directed that minister should come in to the House and apologize for his derogatory remarks against Hindus.
PPP parliamentary leader Syed Hassan Murtaza said that nobody was safe from the hands of Fayaz Chohan. He said in India Modi was extremist and in Pakistan Fayaz Chohan was extremist. He termed Fayyaz Chohan as target killer. He said that first he used derogatory language against artists, politicians, journalists and now the latest target of information minister was minorities.
PML-N MPA Khalil Tahir Sindhu speaking on the point of order condemned Information Minister for using derogatory language against Hindus, and said Hindus were patriotic citizens.
He also said that if Chohan wanted to criticise he should criticise Moodi.
Minister for Human Rights Ejaz Alam said that statements of Fayyaz Chohan and Faisal Vawda were irresponsible, adding that that was not the party policy and narrative.
Minister for Public Prosecution Chaudhry Zaheer Uddin said that minorities played an important role in the creation of Pakistan, adding that white colour in Pakistani flag represented minorities.
The House unanimously passed the resolution of writing Kalma Tayaba on Punjab Assembly building like it was written on National Assembly building. The resolution was presented by Safdar Shakir.
The Deputy speaker directed the law minister to present the bill of increase in the pay of members next week.
Law Minister Raja Basharat said that bill had already been presented in the House and then after approval from the cabinet it would be presented in the House.
