The high commissioners of Pakistan and India returned to their respective stations - New Delhi and Islamabad. Pakistan's High Commi-ssioner to India Sohail Mahmood reached New Delhi on Saturday to resume his duties while his Indian counterpart Ajay Bisaria arrived here on the same day. The development comes following Pakistan conveyed to Indian side on March 5 that Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood would be returning to New Delhi after completing 'consultations' in Islamabad.
Before leaving for New Delhi, Mahmood held a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday and according to the Foreign Office, the high commissioner took the guidance from the Prime Minister. It was followed by the announcement by Indian External Affairs Ministry on Friday that the country's High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria, is returning to Islamabad after having completed his "consultations" in India. "He will reach Islamabad on March 9, 2019 and resume his duties," Indian External Affairs Ministry's spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in New Delhi.
As the tensions are de-escalating following the intervention of the international community, the two sides have also agreed to meet in Attari on Indian side of the border on March 14 to discuss the Kartarpur Corridor opening, an initiative by Pakistan to facilitate the Sikh pilgrims intending to visit their holy sites in Pakistan.
Director General SAARC and South Asia in Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohammad Faisal, who is also official spokesperson for the ministry, will lead Pakistan's delegation in the talks.
Meanwhile, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel-Al Jubeir is also scheduled to visit New Delhi tomorrow (Monday) to meet with Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, a few days after he visited Islamabad and held meetings with civil and military leadership of the country on the tension between Pakistan and India.
