A wing of Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) led by Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi on Monday called upon the government to implement National Action Plan (NAP) in letter and spirit to deal with all kind of extremism.
Ashrafi who is the chairman of his own chapter of PUC addressing at a conference here on Monday titled "Pakistan Stability Conference" along with clerics and religious scholars of other schools of thought and religious organisations stated that the NAP was designed for the annihilation of terrorism, extremism and sectarian violence with consent of all the religious and political parties of Pakistan.
Ashrafi stated that in accordance of Muttahida Ulema Board, centres of leading Ulemas and scholars have been constituted in all over Punjab for smooth coordination with the religious community of the country.
He also added that distance between leadership of religious community and the government should come to an end to resolve the issues of mosques and seminaries.
The conference said that the NAP needed to be implemented in letter and spirit. Leadership of religious schools of thought and sects has always remained united and supported the government of Pakistan to eradicate the menace of terrorism, extremism and sectarian violence from the country.
The participants of the conference stated that leadership of religious organisations has always cooperated with the security and law enforcement agencies of the country.
They also stated that Pakistan wants peace and harmony with the neighbouring countries, adding that any aggression towards Pakistan will not be tolerated.
Pakistan rendered enormous sacrifices for eradication of terrorism and extremism, which is evident on the world. Pakistan had played frontline role for eradication of terrorism and extremism after 9/11. 80,000 martyrs laid their lives from Pakistan against the war on terrorism to restore peace in the world.
The participants of the conference also pointed out that former regime demonstrate unwilling attitude to ensure implementation on National Action Plan. Prevailing activities on part of law enforcement agencies to ensure implementation on National Action Plan is on right track to keep check on elements facilitating terrorists and extremists.
Speaking on the issue of Masajid being taken into government control, the participants of the conference stated that issues relating registration of Masajid will be sort out soon, adding that government should not alter the sects of mosques and seminaries taken into government control.
A joint declaration issues at the Stability of Pakistan Conference said that menace of terrorism and extremism will only be ended by making implementation on National Action Plan in letter and spirit.
The joint declaration also pointed out that distance between government and leadership of mosques and seminaries should be minimized to resolve the issues of Masajid and seminaries. The seminaries including Madras-e-Ashraf-ul-Madaris, which have no association with banned outfits should not be taken into government control.
The joint declaration of the conference also read out that entire nation is united against Indian aggression. Religious community will work like volunteers for Pak Force in face of any foreign aggression towards Pakistan.
The conference also adopted a resolution to condemn drone strikes on different cities of Saudi Arabia including Abha. Saudi Arabia is centre of Muslim and Islamic unity. Elements involved in drone strikes on Saudi Arabia aims at playing havoc with peace and security of Islamic world.
The joint declaration of the conference also announced that 4th International Message of Islam Conference will be held on 14th April, 2019 at Convention Center Islamabad which will be attended by Grand Mufti of Palestine along with notable scholars from all over Muslim world and 5000 clerics from Pakistan will attend the conference.
The conference was also informed that on the recommendation of Muttahida Ulema Board, 250 books, 40 CDs and recordings of sermons have been banned for having hateful content.
