Seeking to learn from the Chinese experience, Prime Minister Imran Khan has stated that low-cost housing scheme is a step towards poverty reduction as housing construction activity would make 40 industries operational, creating new employment opportunities in the country. Speaking at the launching ceremony of finance policy on low-cost housing scheme by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the prime minister has also given the example of China that lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty.
Yes, China has done what no other country has done in the recorded history of mankind: the former 'Middle Kingdom' has lifted as many as 600 million people out of grim poverty. China or its Communist Party of China has done it for the poorest Chinese in a matter of a few decades.
Housing boom means pouring cement. It also mean creating new job opportunities on a massive scale.
