The Punjab government has constituted a 13-member committee under the chairmanship of the former provincial health minister Dr Tahir Ali Javed for setting up modern trauma centres and launching air-ambulance. The Punjab chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting in which establishment of trauma centres and recommendations about the launch of air-ambulance service were reviewed. The meeting also decided to set up trauma centres in teaching hospitals. It also deliberated upon the proposal of setting up smart hospitals which will be inter-connected through information technology for treating the patients.
Addressing the meeting, the CM maintained that trauma centres will be established in teaching hospitals in the first phase and their number will be increased in phases. He directed that all the trauma centres should be made functional as human lives can be saved through prompt first-aid in case of accidents.
He said that a report should be submitted about setting up of trauma centres at motorway M1 and M2. Similarly, the establishment of trauma centres near GT Road and other important road-networks should be reviewed as well. Dr Tahir Javed also gave a briefing about the salient features of trauma centres and air-ambulance service. Provincial ministers Dr Yasmeen Rashid, Sami Ullah Ch., assembly members, chief secretary and others attended the meeting.
Moreover, the CM in his message on 'World Kidney Day, the CM said the people can remain safe from kidney disease by creating a necessary balance in their lifestyle and food habits. "Provision of medical facilities for the treatment of kidney diseases in government hospitals is our priority and necessary steps are being taken in this regard," he said.
