Provincial Minister for Industries and Trade, Mian Aslam Iqbal has announced holding of international investment conference in Lahore during next month in which investors, business community and diplomats from different countries will participate.
Presiding over a meeting here on Thursday, the minister said that a decision has already been taken in this regard as investment conference would open new avenues of investment. The meeting gave final shape to the arrangements for holding this international business conference.
Addressing the meeting, the minister said coordinated work needs to be done by all the concerned departments regarding the conference that would help accelerate investment process in the province.
Besides, Punjab Pavilion, stalls of industries and affiliated institutions would be set up at the conference to be held at the Expo Center. He said Punjab will become the hub of investment in Pakistan as investment friendly policies are attracting the foreign businessmen who are showing interest in joint ventures.
Punjab government is providing all-out facilities to the investors under one roof to the new investors, he said.
Additional Chief Secretary assured that all concerned departments would discharge their responsibilities to make this conference successful. Chief Executive Officer Punjab Investment Board, Punjab Small Industries Corporation's Managing Director and other officials concerned attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Industries and Trade also presided over a meeting at the office of Punjab Investment Board that gave approval to launch a new project with the name of "Cottage Development & Make in Pakistan" in the province.
Under this project, cottage industry will be promoted through providing loans and necessary training.
The minister said the Industries department is launching this project to promote cottage industry. In the first phase, this programme will be initiated in 10 cities of the province which would be helpful in promoting Pakistani products. He also constituted a committee that would submit its proposals for implementation of the project.
