The high-ups of city police have issued strict directives to all sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) to ensure strict security in the city, in general, from March 17 to March 23 and in the vicinity of Parade Ground, in particular, where Pakistan Day Parade would be held.
During a meeting, Additional Superintendent of Police Hassam bin Iqbal said that foolproof security would be ensured in the city. He asked the SDPOs to maintain high vigilance in security duties in connection with Pakistan Day and conduct combing operations in their jurisdictions. All SDPOs, station house officers (SHOs), Muharrars of police stations and other police officials from Operational Wing were also present in the meeting.
He directed for effective patrolling measures in the city, conducting snap checking and ensuring strict checking at the entry and exit points of the city. Effective combing and search operations should be ensured in various areas of the city including Afghan areas, slums, hotels, inns and restaurants, he further said, adding that relevant SDPOs/DSPs should themselves monitor the search operation and try to avoid inconvenience for innocent people. He also directed for strict action against those involved in selling or flying kites, aerial firing and pigeon racing activities.
The city police have divided city into four zones and officer of SP rank would supervise the overall security arrangements in his/her respective beat, he said, adding that an officer of deputy superintendent of police (DSP) rank would be responsible for security in sub-sectors while patrolling would be ensured in rural belts and jungle areas. He said that various police pickets have been established for the security purpose and rooftop duties have been also assigned to policemen.
