A delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami on Saturday met President Arif Alvi to discuss the city's problems. The JI delegation headed by the city's chief, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman met with President, Arif Alvi at the Sindh Governor House to discuss matters related to the Karachi's problems and development projects that are under way. The delegation urged the President to help complete the uplift projects at the earliest, according to the JI.
After the meeting, Hafiz Naeem told the reporters about the discussion with the head of the state and expressed concerns over the terrorists' attacks on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand that left at least 50 people dead and scores of other injured the other day.
He said that the JI delegation urged President, Arif Alvi to raise the terrorists' attacks on worshipers on a global level. He said that had the carnage was of Jews or Christians, the entire world would have waged an anti-Islam with demonstrations and protest rallies. The world powers are silent with 'stitched' lips to openly denounce the terrorism against Muslims.
Unfolding the meeting discussion a bit more, he said that the delegates also raised the issue related to Dr Aafia Siddiqui's release, who is jailed in the US, with the President. Citing Dr Alvi, Chief of JI Karachi said that the President has assured that efforts through government channels are being made in this connection. The delegation, he said also called upon Dr Alvi to help complete the K-IV water supply project, Green Line Project and other uplift scheme under way in the city. Those were part of the delegation included: Dr Osama Razi, Muslim Pervaiz, Rashid Qureshi and Zahid Askari.
