Aiming to decrease burden of cataract in society, more than 200 patients were operated during a three-day free eye and diabetes camp established by Hawa Ilm-ul-Shifa Trust. Camp was set up at Sheikh Eye & Diabetic Hospital located in North Nazimabad on Wednesday. Thousands of patients suffering from eye and diabetic ailments were provided expert consultation, laboratory tests, screening, medicines and glasses all free of cost by the Hawa Ilm-Ul-Shifa Trust.
Talking to the media on closing day of this mega camp, trust chairman Wahid Ali Rehmani told that mostly underprivileged patients availed this facility nearest to their homes. We also arranged shuttle pick and drop service for patients and their attendants. Cataract surgery was performed through phaco procedure which is costly in private hospital and majority of such patients cannot afford it, he mentioned.
We do not want that any patient lose eyesight just because he or she cannot afford treatment. We will keep providing such free services to deserving patients on regular basis, Wahid Ali Rehmani added.
