The Karachi Port handled 162,689 tonnes of cargo comprising 117,557 tonnes of import cargo and 45,132 tonnes of export cargo including 9,168 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 117,557 tonnes comprised of 48,016 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,925 tonnes of bulk cargo and 63,616 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 45,132 tonnes comprised of 44,612 tonnes of containerised cargo and 520 tonnes of bulk cargo.
As many as 9,168 containers comprising of 3,373 containers import and 5,795 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,167 of 20's and 1,067 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 35 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,194 of 20's and 742 of 40's loaded containers while 487 of 20's and 1,315 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships carrying containers and cement respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were two vessels carrying containers currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 192,127 tonnes comprising 164,074 tonnes of import cargo and 28,053 tonnes of export cargo including 3,073 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 164,074 tonnes includes 14,726 tonnes of palm oil; 33,950 tonnes of LNG; 47,033 tonnes of coal; 19,904 tonnes of chemical; 12,627 tonnes of mogas and 35,834 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,053 tonnes includes; 5,500 tonnes of rice and 22,553 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,073 containers comprising of 1,886 containers import and 1,187 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely MT Pike carrying diesel oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while five more ships namely CV MOL Courage, MV Ikan Pulas, MV Giant Causeway, MV Big Apple and MT Cevdey-A carrying containers, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
There is one ship namely CV Maersk Bentonville carrying containers expected to sail at night hours.
A total number of eleven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen vessels viz. MV Athos, MV Orange Harmony, MV Hong Yuang, MV Equinox Agnadoussa, MV Indigo Flora, MV Nord Traveler, MV Heroic Striker, MV Diomidis, MT White Purl, MT Dong Jaing, MT Challange Phonix, MT Sovereign, MT Argon, MT Sino Energy and MT Clarice respectively carrying steel ciol, soyabean, coal, LPG, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Maersk Salina, MV Equinox Agnadoussa, MT Sovereign and MT Clarice carrying containers, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday
There was one ship namely CV Maersk Bentonville carrying containers due to arrive on Friday, while two more ships namely CV Diyala and CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers are due to arrive on Saturday.
