Governor Punjab Ch Mohammad Sarwar gave away civil awards to 14 personalities on behalf of the President for outstanding performance in different fields, on the occasion of Pakistan Day, here on Saturday.
Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance were given to six each personalities, while Tamgha-e-Imtiaz was given to two personalities. Chief Secretary Punjab read the citation of those who received awards in the ceremony. Senior civil and military officers as well as elite of the city attended the function.
Those who were awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz include Dr Pervaiz Ahmed Chaudhry, Dr, Prof (Retd.) Mohammad Latif Chaudhry, Muhammad Imran Munir, actress Babra Sharif, Imtaiz Khawaja and Masood Akhter.
Dr Mazher Iqbal and Dr Shehbaz Alam were conferred with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz. The recipients of Pride of Performance were included: Prof Dr, Ambreen Javed, Comedian Iftikhar Ahmed Thakkar, Bashir Ahmed Hassan, Nasir Adeeb Hassan, Mohammad Inam Butt and Mohammad Amanullah Khan.
Governor Sarwar congratulated the recipients of awards and said we should pledge on the occasion of Pakistan Day for playing role for the betterment of the country. "We need to renew our resolve to make Pakistan a strong country through honesty and hard work," he said.
