Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that seminaries (madaris) have no link with terrorism. "Islam provides rights, justice, equality and protection to minorities. It is unfortunate that we associate progress with certain unnecessary things. Scientific education and religious education can coexist," Sarwar said while addressing the annual convocation of Jamia Tul Khair in Lahore on Sunday.
He further said that looters who plundered national wealth will not be forgiven. "Under leadership of Imran Khan, Pakistan is marching towards progress, prosperity and good governance. There is no distinction of poor and rich in new Pakistan," he claimed.
"We want to make seminaries centers of pluralism, diversity and inclusiveness as they are in "Riasat-e-Madina". It is due to scientific education that Pakistan made atomic bomb and we became able to thwart Indian aggression. Whenever anyone conspired against religious education in Pakistan, I vehemently opposed it. We have to tell the world that Islam has no link with terrorism," he added.
