The Karachi Port handled 206,156 tonnes of cargo comprising 151,875 tonnes of import cargo and 54,281 tonnes of export cargo including 4,767 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 151,875 tonnes comprised of 50,425 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,190 tonnes of canola; 18,261 tonnes of DAP and 78,999 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 54,281 tonnes comprised of 40,631 tonnes of containerised cargo; 650 tonnes of bulk cargo and 13,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.. As many as 4,767 containers comprising of 2,068 containers import and 2,699 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 884 of 20's and 477 of 40's loaded while 12 of 20's and 109 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 861 of 20's and 235 of 40's loaded containers while 580 of 20's and 394 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Cosco Thailand, CSCL Sydney, Caribbean-1, Chemrstar Jewel, Ploutos, Pac ific Sarah and Nordspring carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Hyundai Oakland, Diyala, AS Aries, CSCL Sydney, Golden Denise, Hafnia Africa, Pike and Spar Mira carrying containers, oil tankers and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 77,047 tonnes includes 8,620 tonnes of palm oil; 30,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 34,289 tonnes of coal; 118 tonnes of chemical; 1,531 tonnes of LPG and 2,489 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 42,040 tonnes includes; 1,950 tonnes of project cargo and 40,090 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,241 containers comprising of 131 containers import and 2,110 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami and CV Maersk Salina carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely MV SC Tianjin and MT Clarice carrying chemical and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel products, bitumen, coal, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as seventeen vessels viz. CV MSC Bilbao, CV MSC Sofia Celeste, MV Orange Harmony, MV Hong Yuang, MV Bulk Pegasus, MV Tai Health, MV Indigo Flora, MV Nord Traveler, MV Heroic Striker, MV Diomidis, MT Golar Snow, MT Sovereign, MT Flautos, MT CTG Argon, MT Sino Energy, MT Chembulk Jakarta and MT NCC Nasma respectively carrying containers, soyabean, coal, LnG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV MSC Bilbao, CV MSC Sofia Celeste, MV Tai Health, MT Golar Snow and MT CTG Argon carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday There are two ships namely CV MSC Maria Elena and CV Maersk Columbus carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
