Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Ziadi Tuesday informed a parliamentary panel that shipping policy is being revised with a new outlook and incentives. In a briefing to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs, which held here with MNA Mir Amer Ali Khan Magsi, the minister apprised the members of the working of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), its performance in past five years, acquisition of shipping vessels and recruitments policy vis-à-vis new recruitments.
He said that a summary with to new shipping policy would soon be submitted before the Economic Coordination Council (ECC). He said shipping policy would address the woes of importers, exporters and persons attached with the shipping industry, he added.
The committee recommended that the PNSC should be given preferential treatment by the government for the cargo related business and imports including crude oil should be imported through PNSC. Regarding the recruitment policy, the committee showed dissatisfaction over the recent advertisement for jobs in the newspapers. It expressed desire to have complete details of recruitment policy.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Rana Qasim Noon, Yaqoob Sheikh, Faheem Khan, Saifur Rehman, Abdul Shakoor, Mir Khan Jamali, Nuzhat Pathan, Lal Chand, Shahnaz Naseer, Usama Qadri, Aslam Bhootani, Qaiser Sheikh, Jam Abdul Karim, Abdul Qadir Patel, Kamal Uddin, Muhammad Shahbaz Babar, Begum Tahira Bukhari and Kesoo Mal Khaeeal Das and senior officials of the ministry.
