Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Preventive on Thursday foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of Iranian diesel to Karachi. According to details, credible information was received that some unscrupulous elements were planning to transport smuggled Iranian diesel to Karachi.
Reacting on this information, Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) of MCC, Preventive mounted stiff vigilance at Moachko Choke Point. Subsequently, the ASO team has intercepted an oil tanker bearing registration no TMH-741 at Moachko Choke Point. During scrutiny of records, it is transpired that smuggled Iranian diesel was being transported under the guise of fake invoice of one of the petroleum companies.
Consequently, ASO, MCC, Preventive has taken two persons and 45,000 to 50,000 liters of smuggled diesel worth Rs. 5.2 million into custody. The case has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
