University of Karachi's Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR) on Thursday awarded 51 Ph.D. and 24 M.Phil. degrees in various disciplines. These degrees were awarded in a recently held meeting of the BASR held under the chairmanship of KU's vice chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan, according to the university's registrar.
According to him, the Ph.D. degrees were awarded to Sadaf Toqeer, Erum Shoukat, Saba Nazir and Shahjehan (Botany [ISHU], Abid Hussain (Geography [GIS]), Muhammad Saad, Ishrat Jamil, Tuba Kamal and Sajda Ashraf (Chemistry), Naveed Yousaf and Danish Iqbal (Public Administration), Muhammad Naseer, Mehboob Alam Baig and Arif Mahmood Mustafai (Quran and Sunnah), Muhammad Azeem (General History), Saiqa Tabassum and Musarrat Jahan (Biochemistry), Samina Naurin, Sylvia Sabir Sahir and Lubna Faraz (Botany), Ejaz Basheer, Tayyaba Mumtaz and Salman Ahmed (Pharmacognosy), Itefaq Hussain (Pharmacology), Suraiya Jabeen (Environment Studies), Zulfiqar Ahmed (Physiology), Meher Hassan and Sadia Sadaf (Genetics), Nuzhat Anees (Urdu), Asia Ahmed (Microbiology), Samreen Fatima (Statistics), Muniza Shaikh, Syeda Durr-e-Shahwar and Quratul Ain (Molecular Medicine), Rahil Ahmed (Food Science and Technology), Urooj Javed and Alveena Zehra (Biotechnology [KIBGE]), Sidra Khan and Majeed Ahmed Khan (Mathematics), Hina Dawood (European Studies), Saima Khalil (Education), Ibrahim Zia (Geography), Sana Shahid (Mass Communication), Aijaz Ali (Islamic History), Abdul Sammad (Usool-ud-din), Seema Manzoor (Women Studies), Zeb un Nisa (Pharmaceutics), Nausheen Fatima Jaffery (Political Science) and Mirza Salman Baig (Applied Physics).
He said that the MPhil degrees were awarded to Kiran Shahzadi, Shama Noureen, M Saad Hussain and M Kawish Iqbal (Chemistry, [HEJ]), Javeria Masnoon (Microbiology), Usman Ahmed, Abrar Ahmed, Muhammad Zohaib, Aziz Ahmed Baig (Islamic Learning), Samina Sultan (Nematology, [NNRC]), Shumaila Farzand Ali and Ambar Jamal (Physics), Anam Umar and Nousheen Ali (Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Ayesha Liaquat and Umair Ahmed Khan (Chemistry), Madiha and Sameen Athar (Computer Science), Sami Ullah Qureshi (Applied Economics), Shahzad Hussain (Psychology), Shezaib Siddiqui (Molecular Medicine), M Akhtar Abid (Usool-ud-din), Syeda Nasreen (Zoology) and Eruj Wajidi (Public Administration).
