Head of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Maulana Fazlur Rehman met the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at his Jati Umra residence where the former inquired about the latter's health apart from exchanging views on the country's current political and economic situation.
Sources claimed that Maulana Fazl expressed his good wishes for good health of Nawaz Sharif. They also 'shared concern' on inflation and dwindling economy which rendered all segments of society at the mercy of the incumbent government, the sources added.
The sources claimed that both the leaders also deliberated on the ways to make opposition strong. "Maulana Fazl stressed a decisive move against the PTI-led government which, according to him, is pushing the country downward," the sources said.
The JUI-F chief is also set to meet Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in next few days during which he would deliver message of Nawaz Sharif, the sources added.
After the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman told the media that Imran Khan was imposed on the people of Pakistan as the prime minister. Terming majority in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as fake, the JUI leader, who is strong critic of the PTI government, said, "Nawaz Sharif is ready to oppose the government, however, now we need to identify the way of leading the movement."
The JUI chief said he had been in touch with other political leaders, including Asif Ali Zardari. He added he would also meet Zardari in the next few days as he believes that "internal connections [among opposition parties] should remain intact".
Answering a question, Fazl said, "The agenda of the meeting was limited to inquiring about his [Nawaz Sharif's] health, but we also discussed our shared concerns about towering inflation which is affecting the common man, and the troubled economy."
Calling Prime Minister Imran Khan a "fake premier", he described the current regime as an "installed" one. He added that the ruling regime has no knowledge of the ideology of Pakistan, the ground realities of the country and the economy.
"The JUI-F has completed 10 'million marches' against the government and that they are ready for a decisive one," he said. To another question, Maulana suggested to take stern decision in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) matter. Meanwhile, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry took to twitter to criticise Nawaz-Fazl meeting and asked the judiciary to take notice of it.
