"With an aim to reform police response mechanism, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has started test-run of the Punjab Unified Communication and Response (PUCAR-15) to record and monitoring all the complaints received on Police helpline 15 from all 36 districts of Punjab."
This was revealed by PSCA Chief Operating Officer (COO) Akbar Nasir Khan while speaking at the floor of PPIC3 on Wednesday.
"PUCAR-15 is first of its kind innovation in both Pakistan and South East Asia in terms of its scope and function. This system will make possible recording and progress monitoring of all complaints (calls) received on police helpline 15 from all 36 districts of Punjab through PSCA's centralized interface offering strategic information cascading and access to SPs, CPOs, DPOs, RPOs and the IGP will be himself following a complaint escalation matrix," added the COO.
He hoped that the system will revolutionize the police communication and response mechanism overall by significantly reducing the turnaround time required in complaint resolution and closure. According to him, the PUCAR-15 will be operational by next week while its test run has already been started.
All police officers and 1200 police station across the province are interconnected through "safe police network".
We are also revamping and centralizing the 8787 helpline as per the direction of Punjab IGP Amjad Javed Saleemi, Nasir added.
Moreover, he said, the PSCA has also established an online data sharing and contact linkage between the police stations and the IG office.
We have also requested the competent authorities that a specialized force should be deputed to respond to emergency calls received on police helpline 15 for effective remedy, he maintained.
Through the system, he added, the citizens will be able to lodge their complaints online. The calls received on 15 will be considered as FIRs shortly. All data of crimes and police response across the province will be available for analysis within next three months through the PUCAR-15, he concluded.
