It is quite right that the country has been facing balance of payment (BoP) crisis for quite sometime. The situation at present is more worrisome than before because the country's external sector is in woefully bad shape. Finance Minister Asad Umar's remarks that the PTI government went to the IMF due to some previous wrong decisions are absolutely plausible.
There is no denying that you cannot do it without the IMF. But the PTI government's arguments, however impressive, are too little to effectively deal with growing restlessness among people on account of slower growth, higher inflation, etc. The government is required to deliver without any further loss of time.
