To facilitate the masses during the holy month of Ramazan, the District Administration Lahore will set up 30 Ramazan bazaars in various parts of the provincial capital.
The administration has selected the sites, and for procurement and hiring of infrastructure for the bazaars, a procurement committee has been constituted that will ensure transparency in the whole process.
The sites selected for the Ramazan bazaars include Model Town Link Road, Makkah Colony, Gracious Banquet Hall at Barkat Market, Babe-e-Pakistan, Ghalib Market Cricket Gorund, Model Bazaar at Township, Model Bazaar at Sher Shah Colony, Kahna Nau Main on Ferozpur Road, Chowk Begum at Kot Shahdara, Mochi Gate Ground, Ayaan Shahdi Hall, Model Bazaar at Wahadat Colony, Gulshan-e-Ravi Moon Market, Naeem Shaheed Road, Shadman near Wapda Grid Station, Karim Park Goal Ground, Model Bazaar Main Plaza, Model Bazaar Sanzazar, Model Bazaar on Raiwind Road, Model Bazaar at Thokar Naiz Baig, Model Bazaar at Chung, Jallo More on GT Road, Bedian Road, Model Bazaar at Hurbanspura, Chungi Dohaich and Abbas Athat Park Tajpura, Gole Ground at Shad Bagh, Rafi Shadi on Hall GT Road, Singhpura and Model Bazaar China Scheme.
The procurement committee comprises for senior officers, including ADCR (Convener), ADC (F&P), ADCG, AC (HQ), CO MCL and MO (Infra) as its members. The committee will look after the procurement and hiring of equipment to be used in the bazaars.
In this connection, a meeting was held here on Monday to review the preparation for Ramazan bazaars. It was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Lahore Saleha Saeed, which was attended by the ADCR, ADCG, Assistant Commissioners, Chief Officer of MCL, CPRO MCL, DO Food, and DO Livestock and other officers.
During a briefing, Assistant Commissioners told the meeting that all arrangements, including selection of sites, equipment and security related issues, are thoroughly inspected and finalized. The DC directed them to revisit all the sites and submit their reports comprehensively.
The Lahore Administration will also set up 'dastarkhwans' in various parts of the city, which will offer food for breaking fasts to the citizens. "These 'dastarkhwans' will offer citizens to break fasts peacefully and in respectable manner. In this connection, a direction has been passed to all the ACs to hold meetings with philanthropists and seek their assistance," said the DC.
