National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has recovered over Rs 30 billion (including recoveries in shape of recovery of state land) since its inception. This was disclosed at NAB HQ Executive Board Meeting (EBM), which was chaired by the Chairman NAB here. According to details, NAB Karachi has, so far, received and disposed over 71,640 complaints, completed 3489 CVs. Similarly 1528 inquiries and 887 investigations were completed and 824 references were filed in accountability courts and recovered over Rs 30 billion (including recoveries in shape of recovery of state land) since its inception and the same was disbursed among its beneficiaries that included affectees of cheating public at large, government departments and banks. During this period, NAB Karachi has arrested 973 accused persons.
The NAB stated that Brig Farooq Naser Awan (retd), SI (M) took charge of this Bureau in Oct 2018 and during these seven months; NAB Karachi has been making its disposal of cases with more vigor and competence. On directions of incumbent NAB Chairman, the Karachi Bureau holds public hearings to resolve the people's grievances on every last Thursday of each month. Due to this reason, people's trust in the NAB is increasing by leaps and bounds as eradication of corruption is the urge of the nation and efforts of the NAB in eradication of the menace have been widely acknowledged.
