The upward trend in prices of important kitchen items, including vegetable, pulses, sugar, flour, dates, except live chicken/meat, eggs was witnessed in retail market ahead of Ramadan, said in a survey carried out by Business Recorder here on Sunday.
Gram flour (baisen) is being sold at Rs 140 per kg which was selling at Rs 120 per kg. A sharp increase in price of sugar was also witnessed as available at Rs70 per kg in retail market, the survey noticed. As the holy month of Ramadan is draw near, the prices of dates have surged up in local market as available at Rs 200 and Rs 250 and Rs 300 per kg. Similarly, a considerable increase was witnessed in different brand/quality of beverages.
In the local market, the survey further witnessed that big-size white channa is being available at Rs 150 per kg against the price of Rs 130 per kg, while red-bean priced at Rs 140 and Rs 180 per kg in the previous week Price of good quality rice (sela) has gone up at Rs 150 per kg which was selling at Rs 140 per kg in the previous week, while toota rice priced at Rs70 and Rs80 per kg. Dal cahnna is being sold at Rs 140 per kg which was selling at Rs 120 per kg in retail market. Dal masoor is being sold at Rs 100 per kg against the price of Rs90 per kg.
The survey further witnessed Price of dhoti dal was remained unchanged as available at Rs 130 per kg. Moonge is being sold at Rs 150 per kg which was selling at Rs 140 per kg. White lobiya is being sold at Rs 120 and Rs 130 per kg against the rate of Rs 110 per kg in the last week. Dal chilka (green) is being sold at Rs 130 per kg, while dal chilka (black) priced at 140 per kg.
According to the survey, prices of different quality and brand of cooking oil/ghee was remained high-side as available within range of Rs 150 and Rs 170 and Rs 180 and Rs 200 per litre/kg.
A slight decrease in price of live-chicken/meat was witnessed in retail market, as available at Rs 197 per kg which was selling at Rs 201 per kg in the previous week. In local market, a dozen of farm eggs are being sold at Rs80 and Rs 100. Cow meat is available at Rs400 per kg while mutton beef priced at Rs700 per kg, while mutton beef priced at Rs800 and Rs900 per kg.
Price of tomatoes have increased in retail market at being sold at Rs 120 and Rs 100 per kilogram which was selling at Rs80 per kg in the previous week, the survey noticed, added that onion is being sold at Rs50 and Rs60 per kg against the price of Rs40 per kg in the last week in open market.
The survey further said that ginger is available at Rs 240 per kg which was selling at Rs 200 per kg in the last week. Price of Chinese garlic increased at Rs 200 per kg which was being sold at Rs 160 per kg in few day back, while local produced garlic priced at Rs 160 per kg which was selling at Rs80 per kg
Price of green chili has decreased at Rs 150 per kg which was selling at Rs 200 per kg in last week. Carrots are being sold at Rs50 per kg, while lemon priced at Rs 120 and Rs 140 per kg in open market.
According to the survey, red-potatoes are being available at Rs 30 per kg against the price of Rs 20 per kg in the last week. Peas are being sold at Rs 100 per kg, which was selling at Rs80 per kg. Capsicum is being available at Rs 120 per kg.
It added that ladyfinger is being sold at Rs 100 and Rs 120 per kg, Apple, round and other gourds are available at Rs60 and Rs80 per kg in local market. Bitter ground (Kerala) is being sold at Rs80 per kg.
Ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, the price of fruits is dearer in the local market as banana is being sold at Rs 120 per dozen, showing an increase of Rs60 per dozen. Melon is being sold at Rs70 per kg against the price of Rs40 per kilogram in the previous week. Apples are being sold at Rs 120 and Rs 140 per kg. Strawberry is being sold at Rs 100 and Rs 120 per kg.
