The Interior Ministry has shared a list of the 461 persons placed on Exit Control List (ECL) with the speaker National Assembly here on Monday. The ministry said that with the approval of the federal cabinet the names of six members of National Assembly (MNAs) were also placed on the ECL but later 3 names were omitted. Federal Minister for Interior, Ijaz Shah presented the report regarding the ECL in the Business Advisory Committee meeting which met here under the chairmanship of National Assembly Speaker, Asad Qaiser.
Meanwhile, MNA Mohsin Dawar asked regarding the persons placed on ECL and the charges levelled against them.
According to the report, the names of former President Asif Ali Zardari, Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Khawaja Saad Rafique, Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) Ali Wazir, PTM's Mohsin Dawar and PML-N MNA Afzal Khokhar were listed on the ECL under the decision of federal cabinet.
As per reports, names of Bilawal Bhutto, Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar have been removed from the list whereas Asif Ali Zardari and Khawaja Saad Rafique are still listed in the ECL. According to the report submitted by Ijaz Shah, Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir were named in ECL because of their hate speech against the government and institutions, Saad Rafique was listed on the recommendation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) whereas former President and PPP chairman were named on the recommendation of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Earlier Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser chaired the House Business Advisory Committee to discuss the business for the 9th Session of the National Assembly.
The meeting discussed the agenda and ways to run the proceedings of the 9th session of the National Assembly. The representatives of the parliamentary parties gave their proposals regarding business in the House. It was decided that the current NA session will continue till 3rd May, 2019.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Defence Pervaz Khattak, Minister for Interior Ijaz Ahmed Shah, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Khan Swati, State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan, and MNAs Iqbal Muhammad Ali, Ghous Bux Mahar, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Rubina Irfan, Muhammad Aslam Bhootani and Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada.
