The Karachi Port handled 160,927 tonnes of cargo comprising 100,297 tonnes of import cargo and 60,630 tonnes of export cargo including 5,490 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargos of 100,297 tonnes comprised of 45,426 tonnes of containerised cargo; 000 tonnes of bulk cargo and 54,871 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 60,630 tonnes comprised of 26,147 tonnes of containerised cargo; 330 tonnes of bulk cargo; 25,500 tonnes of clinkers; 1,733 tonnes of wheat; 3,420 tonnes of rice and 3,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,490 containers comprising of 3,903 containers import and 1,587 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 763 of 20's and 1,253 40's loaded while 388 of 20's and 123 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 864 of 20's and 178 of 40's loaded containers while 137 of 20's and 115 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Hyundai Busan, AS Aries and Worldera-1 carrying containers and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were ten vessels viz. KMTC Mumbai, Botany Bay, Wan Hai-611, CMA CGM Racing, Wehr Schulau, Kota Kasturi, Diyala, Chem Trader, Almere and Pleiades Leader carrying containers, oil tankers and vehicles respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 82,716 tonnes comprising 70,166 tonnes of import cargo and 12,550 tonnes of export cargo including 2,295 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 70,166 tonnes includes 15,683 tonnes of palm oil; 3,245 tonnes of palm kernel; 25,619 tonnes of coal and 25,619 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 12,550 tonnes includes 12,000 tonnes of condensente and 550 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,295 containers comprising of 1,745 containers import and 550 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, palm kernel, condensente and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as nine vessels viz. Maersk Kinloss, MSC Asya, Thor Madoc, Indigo Flora, Marlin-V, Mariman, BW Panthar, Bruno and Bunga Almanda respectively carrying containers, coal, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. Maersk Kinloss, MSC Asya, Marimen and LNG Orato carrying containers, coal and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
